Conventional education alone cannot meet the needs and aspiration of higher education. What proactive policies and strategies need to be devised and developed to encourage online education and overcome any implementation issues which are currently hindering its optimization? Also how can we strengthen ODL systems so as to ensure their quality and gain greater acceptability?

Sir, TV shows on physics & maths should be started to increase awareness of science. The show should be glamorous. Similar shows for innovation and business startups should be started with healthy competition. Today's youth have to be motivated and given a direction in nation building. The youth is very much influenced by showbiz and glamour. This should be used to promote education in youngsters. All citizens should educate themselves continuously and participate in current affairs.

if we go through a survey .i hope we wont get even 50 percent school with library...there should be mandatory requirement of library (5000 books) and laboratory (as per student number) for every school before giving affiliation from state or government body.....we can see people in our country are very poor in reading habits i hope library in each school would enhance reading as a habit not just a requirement of passing and getting grade.

Online and distance education can be improved if, relevant industry approved, practical trainings are also provided. Current problem is that, when people with distance education go for job or higher studies, their degree is not recognized. It can be improved, if we consult with universities and industries and meet their expectation.

We would like to bring your kind notice to a matter of serious concern to the BVSc &AH degree in India. A veterinary graduate has to undergo 4.5 years of rigorous course work and 6 months of internship which is par with MBBS requirements and is over and above with B.Tech or other professional courses. When it comes to admission to PhD programme in national institutes in India, a doctor of veterinary medicine is not even considered where MBBS degree (bachelor degree) is eligible.

Open and Distance Learning courses are practically competent enough as compared to pure theoretical. E.g. Courses of IGNOU. A due recognition is needed. UGC must approve all such courses. Value of such courses must be at par as compared to other regular institutions.

People who could not go for higher studies and those who are in job and want to enhance their expertise should be able to do so. Each department in all the universities may come up with courses designed for open learning and according to the demand. They should also prepare quality learning material for the proposed courses. This material should be OPEN and placed on the web site of the respective departments. In this way a national pool of quality study material can be created.
