Conventional education alone cannot meet the needs and aspiration of higher education. What proactive policies and strategies need to be devised and developed to encourage online education and overcome any implementation issues which are currently hindering its optimization? Also how can we strengthen ODL systems so as to ensure their quality and gain greater acceptability?

Fortunately, India does have a good amount of courses on NPTEL but limited to engineering streams. More colleges/universities should be encouraged to record their lectures and provide such recordings alongwith other course materials to users. Also students taking such courses should be provided university credits and certificates upon successful completion.

Engg Colleges: 1. Fake Campus Placements should be Stopped. 2. MTech Faculty must have minimum of 5 years "Verified" Industry Experience to Teach BTech Students. 3. Entrance Exam for MTech should have Industry Experience as part of Selection Criteria. Entrance Score should not matter 100% 4. BTech & MTech courses should be aligned to Industry Needs & should not be the Flight of Imagination of Theoretical Professors / Board. 5. Mandatory Industrial Training in "VerifiedIndustries" should be must

AS PROMOTING OPEN AND DISTANCE LEARNING AND ONLINE COURSES IS BEST WAY TO GET EDUCATION OTHER THAN REGULAR COLLEGE SYSTEM. MY SUGGESTION IS THAT FIRST REMOVE THE PRIVATE EDUCATION SYSTEM FROM ALL UNIVERSITIES OF INDIA. THIS IS NOT RELEVANT NOW. OPEN AND DISTANCE LEARNING SYSTEM IS NOT TAKING SHAPE DUE TO THIS PRIVATE SYSTEM OF EDUCATION. BOTH ARE LOOKS SIMILAR IN MANY WAYS BUT OPEN LEARNING IS BASED ON COUNSELING SESSION, WHICH IS GOOD. UNIVERSITIES JUST CREATING FUNDS OUT OF PRIVATE EDUCATION

Every student who register themselves at a particular registration centre must avail the facility of library having quality books related to the courses given at the centre other than study material provided for the course, digital library having sufficiet system and good internet connection for students.Every center must have a job placement policy in the last semester of the course as what bother students is what they will get finally after completion of the course.

ODL should be promoted as the degree be it either a full time course or ODL doesn't matters what matters is the quality of knowledge one has. So,both the courses must be treated as equal and equal opportunities must be given to person having either of the degrees. There are many people who hold full time degree of a particular course but the don't even have the basic knowledge of the particular stream. We should focus on the quality education by providing best online lectures, quality study material

University distance learning course can be also modeled on coaching class format. Where one has to send assignments regularly for assessment.

distance learning should be given equal value as regular courses. Some time its frowned upon as people who don't get admissions. this should not be the case. Lot of seats are blocked by the students specially of BA and BCOM student who just wanted to do graduation e.g CA(chartered accountant) aspirants. They are pursuing much advanced course. Or people who are involved in family business just do for heck of it.
