Khadi is not merely a piece of cloth. It is a philosophy. A way of life. A symbol of empowerment, self-dependence, pride of history, Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of the relevance of roots.

As Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi on his radio program “Mann ki Baat” on 3rd October, 2014 said that “we must promote the use of Khadi and we should buy at least one Khadi article. If you buy Khadi, you light the lamp of prosperity in the house of the poor”.This appealled to an increase in Khadi sales by 125% at the various outlets in India. This reflects a latent demand for Khadi, which needs to tapped which in turn will create rural employment. Potential consumers of Khadi could be schools, hospitals, Railways, PSUs, Army, Para-military forces, Fashion houses etc.

USP of the Khadi product is its eco-friendly, almost carbon neutral nature, which leaves near zero water footprints. It is socio-economically sustainable textile product. It’s an all-weather and allergy free fabric. Hence, Khadi use is a step towards ‘Zero Effect’ and ‘Zero Poverty’ India.

Currently, people employed in Khadi sector are earning Rs.1200 to Rs.1800 per month. MGIRI Wardha has developed a Solar Charkha which can increase the earnings to four times the existing one, cutting the drudgery along.Taking the initiative forward, MoMSME is going to start a pilot project in the KHANWA village, Nawada district of Bihar, where 100 Solar Charkhas would be distributed to the rural women for spinning of yarn. Under buyback arrangement with ‘Gram Nirmaan Mandal, Khadi Sansthan, GAYA, these yarns would be weaved into Khadi products. This scheme islikely to provide Rs.5000 to 8000 per month to the women artisans. This model of wage earnings to the rural women has to be scaled up so as to achieve the visionary goal of providing job opportunities to crores of rural women in coming years.

This, in turn is expected to lay a platform for another visionary goal of increasing the market share of Khadi in the textile sector from present 0.4% to 5% in next Five years in first phase.

In pursuance of the above twin visionary goals, you are requested to give your valuable inputs on

1. How to enhance the production and sale of Khadi?
2. How to create a niche for Khadi products particularly among youths and about 2.5 crore NRIs living abroad?
3. How to foster awareness about Khadi products?

The last date for submission of your comments is 31st March, 2015.

---Contd from earlier....It will increase the uptake of credit, more purchases by actual consumers, creating more demand for the consumer goods, improvement in living standards. Although the banks can follow their issuing standards to safe guard money.

Since last few quarters, the credit uptake from banks is lower due to various reasons.Personal loans hv also reduced credit uptake in housing, vehicles, credit cards etc. It can be increased by a lower rate of interest or some concessions in housing sector loans to motivate the need based consumers. The rate of interest charged by the banks on credit cards too is highly abnormal-normally30-42% besides other charges. These charges too should be made reasonable to increase demand by actual consumer

--contd from earlier....teams should be created to check this pilferage.I hope minimum 15-20% power can be saved by these, thus saving billions of investments, fuel, making the rates cheaper. The staff of electricity boards should be incentivised; trained technically, ethically; motivated in national interest.Unless the co-operation of staff is available, it will be difficult to achieve the targets in this regard. POWER SAVED IS EQUIVALENT TO POWER GENERATED.

We hv very high distribution losses in distribution & transmission of power due to various reasons-like..old transformers, open high tension lines, old feeders systems , power theft at various levels-industries, farms, residential etc.The most important work in this regard will be to modernise the transmission systems & stop the pilferage.Until this is done, the pilferage will go on & we are bound to increase the burden on honest customers by additional burden of pilferage.Strict vigiliance-cont

It was a very smart move to let AAP win Delhi and be contender for vote bank of similar parties in UP and Bihar. Well to sacrifice 70 seats for 700 is brilliant. However you should have won at least 15-20 seats. Delhi remains media buzz 24 hr and that made your task to promote AAP easier. Smart very smart pradhamantiji. It is time to deliver to your vote bank and be careful Kejriwal has capacity to dent it a little.

We have more than 750 MPs. When the Parliament is in session, they meet every day. Can a new initiative be started by virtue of which every MP will contribute atleast Rs. 100/day when the Parliament is in session. This will amount of Rs. 75000/day. If there are 22 sittings of the Parliament (ongoing winter session), then the sun collected would turn out to be Rs. 16.5 lakhs [75000*22 = 1650000] which can be utilised for promoting Khadi industry. It can create a huge difference.I have experienced
