Recognizing the universal appeal of Yoga, owing to its demonstrated benefits towards immunity building and stress relief, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed 21st June as the International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 11th December 2014. Since 2015, this day has been observed worldwide in ever-growing numbers, to remind people across the globe about the benefits of Yoga, and to build enduring public interest in Yoga by highlighting its importance and contributions to public health.

The preparations for the 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY 2022) have already begun and the Ministry of Ayush (MoA) is looking forward to active participation from the people. As the world faced a tough time due to the pandemic of Covid-19, wherein, Yoga has emerged as the saviour for many.

Yoga is healing our minds, bodies and spirits while giving back to society. It's a way of life by following the approach to wellness, social, and environmental well-being for global development. Yoga unfolds the infinite potentials of the human mind and body and set the guidelines for how to lead a sustainable lifestyle in the modern age by creating a positive impact on the planet inevitably leading humans to make more mindful choices.

With this backdrop, the Ministry of Ayush invites all citizens to share their ideas on how “Yoga for Humanity” may be persuaded further.

1)There are amazing benefits of yoga in schools & colleges. Yoga can help young children, grown ups to lead a better lifestyle. Thus, promote Yoga in educational institutions. 2) Promote Yoga Online for convenience of no commute. It can be recorded or livestream. 3) Men are less practicing Yoga. Please promote for Men as usually they rush to office & home tasks & don’t have time unless they become sick. 4) Introduce Family Yoga & Dance Yoga themes. 5) Provide Mat & Towel service for walk-ins yoga practitioner. 6) Have Quality content marketing with messages on empowerment & revilutioning the fitness. Give away free yoga products. 7) Make use of Referral Marketing (word of mouth). This will engage people meaningfully. Yoga is better with friends. 8) Have networking /connections & maintaining positive relationships with yoga instructors & practitioners. 9) Guide on respecting the limits of own body & not to compare with others. 10) Promote to do Yoga with beautiful Smile & remain stable

योग मानव की सुरक्षा प्रणाली विकसित होने लगती है। योग के द्वारा मनुष्य निरोग रह सकता है। योग से मनुष्य की आंतरिक सुरक्षा भी मजबूत होने लगती है। और मनुष्य योग के माध्यम से सोई हुई शक्ति जाग्रत हो जाती है। इसलिए मनुष्य को हमेशा योग करना चाहिए। योग के प्रभाव से मनुष्य सम्पूर्ण जीवन निरोग रह सकता है।

With the way our environment and our lifestyle are changing, we often keep falling ill. And sometimes such an epidemic is born in the whole world which takes the lives of crores of people. We get sick or in the grip of an epidemic only when the immunity of our body is weak. Only with the help of yoga can we increase our immunity. When our body has the ability to fight diseases, then no matter if any epidemic or minor disease comes, it cannot harm us. In the recent coronavirus pandemic, people were getting sick in such large numbers that hospitals were running short of treating people.

The 8th edition of International Yoga Day to be celebrated on June 21, 2022 will be guided by the theme of yoga for humanity. ' Choosing right yoga asanas and practicing them with awareness during post COVID-19 recovery period helps to build immunity with relaxed body and mind for faster healing. The aim of yoga is self-realization to overcome all kinds of suffering leading to a state of liberation. Health and harmony shall be the main objective of yoga practice.

International Yoga Day 2022 was observed in the conference hall of the Peermede office, Kerala on 21-06-22. The meeting was presided over by me and inaugurated by Shri Dipin D, Inspector Posts, Peermade Sub division. Chedhana Yoga state instructor Shri V P Suresh led the Yoga class on that day. Almost all the employees from SO and BO's were attended the class and the event was great success. The meeting was started at 1500 hrs and ended at 1700 hrs.
