India’s Handloom sector is a symbol of our glorious cultural heritage and is an important source of livelihood in the country.

The first National Handloom Day was held on 7th August 2015 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. On this day, the handloom weaving community is honoured and their contribution to the socio-economic development of the country is highlighted, and the resolve to protect our handloom heritage and to empower the handloom weavers and workers with greater opportunities is reaffirmed.

Let us, together, ensure the sustainable development of the handloom sector by supporting our handloom weavers and workers for their exquisite craftsmanship.

This is a great change in these days because central govt is promoting handloom industry. In our Sri Satya Sai Organization, we always wear white handloom dress in service. It gives a decent look and very comfortable in all seasons. All the members in our family prefer to wear handloom. My wife always wear handloom sarees in all seasons. We the people of India should prefer to handloom dresses. Its evident the foreign tourists are preferred to wear handloom dhotees and sarees. Its our tradition

राष्ट्रीय हथकरघा दिवस 7 अगस्त 1950 को देश में स्वदेशी आंदोलन शुरू हुआ था स्वदेशी आंदोलन की याद में 7 अगस्त को "राष्ट्रीय हथकरघा दिवस" मनाने का निर्णय लिया गया हमारे माननीय प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी जी ने 7अगस्त 2015 को चैन्नई में इस अभूतपूर्व दिवस की शुरुआत की थी हथकरघा एक बिना विधुत के स्वयं संचालित यंत्र हैं इससे हाथ से कारीगरी की जाती हैं हथकरघा वह हैं जो हमें हमारी संस्कृति से जुड़े रहनें का अहसास कराता हैं

Solapur is famous for handloom production. Solapur MIDC is good for Handloom. Employees and economy devoplement are very interesting.

Let me salute all the handloom weavers on this auspicious day. This sector has to be redefined and restructured atleast to safeguard our tradition, culture etc.. As per the current statistics women employees are mostly depending in this handloom industry and hence this sector to be promoted further. if we fail to support them the survival of these units will be under great trouble. Publicity is highly essential to promote Handloom Industry and every Indians should wear handlooms atleast a day.
