The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

With reference to the discussion, As we aware the current government working culture in so many sectors, so it should be under professional public company, those have past good experience in the same profile. Some of the semi government institution are also very well experienced to do the same, so they are also eligible for this. last but no least point, above mentioned, anyone do the skill development but somebody is closely monitor and responsible of the same for making our INDIA great.

Basically following subject specialization must (a) fundamental of Electrical engineering (b) Ferrous and non ferrous metal (c) electronics, Radio, pneumatic, Hydraulic, electro pneumatic machinery. Safety of the Mine workers is most important. For skill development should not handover to private party. Training to the personnel maybe under the guidance of RUSSIAN EXPERT.

India is a vast country, only govt can't do it very efficiently, it is required for private sector to enter in this field, also PPP can also be done. 2. India needs that skill development in mining field be advanced & skill development institutes must connect to youth living nearby mines & those who have passed matrix exams & those who are eligible to enroll in mining sector. 3. Max emphasis must be given on teaching techniques & practical knowledge, field training must be compulsory.

In my opinion, the skill development should be undertaken by a good and competitive private sector but under the control of government, and government should help and encourage them. This will ensure good quality training.
