The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

It should be undertaken by the private sector as per the guidelines and policy regulations of public authorities. Benchmarking concept is important for best settled norms and practices.Today is the right time that the Govt. has to redefine its authoritarian role or it has to work on back foot. Judiciary and administration role of public sector is getting high importance now a days. Inland threat of corruption, naxalism , and external threat of terrorism and border issues Govt power more concern.

Infrastructure, land and building by the govt on lease (not more than 10 years at one time) to the local private players. Operating expenses and management by edupreneurs. Fee should be charged as for self financing institute, for weaker section online scholarship/grant application processing. Providing apprenticeship/ on the job training should be social responsibility of the prospect employers. These institutes should work under supervision of govt universities, NITs, IITs, govt. engg college

Skill development is a big challenge in india.A person study up to Graduate but unable to get job in market due to unable to do work in industry.without practical knowledge no on agencies can develop man skill in any institution either public or private. its my opinion that it should be undertake by private institution open under the any mining company or institution.
