1. Increase the green cover of Trichy - set a target and make Trichy, the District with highest green cover in India.
2. Encourage Cleaner,Sustainable and Cheaper Energy in every possible way.Every household should be encouraged to use solar power.
3. Develop and maintain basic Infrastructure- Roads, Transport Etc.
Easy access and commuting is also extremely important. A much bigger, state of the art, Bus Stand, must be built in a location suitable and convenient to everyone.

Another important aspect the city authorities should adopt is collaboration with ICT majors such as IBM, SISCo, Accenture, etc for more knowledge sharing. Also these majors could be encouraged to adopt at least one city as part of their CSR initiative, where they can provide innovation smart solutions to make the city more livable.

State government should initiate a Smart Cities Research Centre at state level which will invest in periodic research leveraging various data available with government, business and academic institutions which will help to build more efficient and innovative smart solutions in a long run.

First the city should have a bold smart-city targets / goals and periodic tracking of the progress to reach them with policy level initiatives such as Smart City Vision, a Roadmap 2020, and Action Plans.
By adopting this it will be easy for the city authorities to identify and implement smart city solutions, otherwise, Smart City will remain just a buzz word.
