Trichy is a very religuous place with lots of temples which have beautiful architecture but many tourists are unaware of this holy place as their are very less places for recreation and entertainment. Though it has some random malls and theatres it is not fully urbanised. Therefore to attract more tourists we can create more recreational services such as build an amusement park. Also facilities such as ola are not very frequent so we should increase that and fix the meter charges for auto.

Effective use of CCTVs, particularly in crowded areas and public transport, and specially-designed apps along with the physical presence of male and female police officers in vulnerable areas, are a must.

The police could also use social media advantageously to connect with citizens in real time. Facebook and Twitter

Universal number like 911 in the US must be made available, connected to the PCR that would further direct the appropriate agency to respond. A grid of CCTV cameras strategically spread over the entire city (possibly via a PPP model) would be monitored round-the-clock from the PCR and the use of specially-designed apps can also help cell phone users contact the PCR on a real-time basis, all the while being tracked through GPS.

Police are expected to provide ‘smart policing’ for which they will have to adopt many best practices like webbased system for filing of complaints and FIRs, a mobile application for distress assistance, a webbased court cases monitoring system and e-challans for traffic offences

The profile of the ordinary policemen in Smart Cities will have to change, including the recruitment of more qualified personnel. The training methods and technology available to them will have to be cutting edge for which tie ups with leading cyber security agencies will have to be made at an institutional level.
