Tiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation has been ranked first among 12 cities selected for implementing Smart City project in Tamil Nadu and is gaining momentum to get shortlisted in the final round of Smart City Challenge where 20 cities would be selected in the first year.

The vibrant citizens of Tiruchirappalli are requested to post their views pertaining to municipal and city’s basic infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, waste management, transport, parking, energy,housing, IT solutions,safety and security. Residents are encouraged to give their ideas and suggestions at city level as well as local area level solutionsin Tiruchirappalli.

Let us join hands together in making Tiruchirappalli a global Smart City!

1.Improve tourism. 2.Increase the runway in trichy airport. The airport at trichy doesn't have runways wide enough for double-aisle aircraft to operate, a reason which could prevent carriers such as Emirates to fly into the region. 3.Efficient urban mobility and public transport. 4.Robust IT connectivity. 5.Sanitation and solid waste management (litter dump at Ariyamangalam) 6.Establish solar projects. 7.Make broad roads inside the city.

Compulsory a fly over be built on head post office Signal.This place has heavy traffic conjugation and many fatal accidents were witnessed because the signal goes off very fast and people wants to get passed before the light turns red. At least adjust the signal by giving more time

Remove stray cattle and heavily fine owners who allow stray cattle to move freely. I have personally seen accidents taking place because of stray cattle. Strictly begging should be banned in Trichy.Beggars should be rehabilitated by Government agencies. No point of naming the city smart if such inequalities prevail in the society

Permit High raise building (more that 25 to 50 stories buildings) so that the city becomes more accessible and expands vertically like Singapore rather than horizontally like Chennai.In Chennai the city is so vast & takes hours to commute from one place to another & its traffic not to say.Don't commit the same mistake in Trichy

My suggestions for Tiruchirapalli Smart City initiative. Completion of Outer Ring Road. Integrated Bus-stand on the city outskirts. Planting of more trees on un-used government and private lands. Proper and effective waste-management system. Establishment of Under Ground drainage System. Strict action against building violators. Strict action against cattle owners who leave them to roam on roads.

Lets aim for a peaceful and broad based development of the city. Place for healthy Birth place. Place for lovely childhood. Place for enlightened educational facilities. Place for all round development. Place for higher educational facilities in all fields. Place for budding professionals. Place for enjoyable youth. Place for sports & other multicultural activities. Place for women empowerment. Place for entrepreneurial pursuits. Place for modern infrastructure facilities like power, transport, healthcare. Place for Happier Senior citizens. Place for tolerable religious views & a preachings. Ultimate goal is to retain the citizens of the city and welcoming more enlightened citizens into the city that enriches the value of the city in multitude factors.
