Police can not take actions unless Law is in place and complain is lodged against Misleading Advertisments.First of all there should be a agency to verify that which are the Ads falls under Misleading catagory. The Central & State Govts may enact effective Laws to punish the defaulters. All the Manufacturers must submit the merit detals of their products and the Ads have to contain only those points & not less or more.If there is deviation from the side of Manufacturers the penality/punishments should be awarded as per Law.

All schemes must apply for a VERIFIED symbol to be issued by the relevant govt authority. it should have a unique digital reference number, which an investor should be able to verify on a govt website. advertisement must compulsorily carry such unique reference number. printing of such ads without this number should also be banned and onus should be also on printers, who can easily verify the authenticity by looking up the reference number.

Create an advertising campaign on educating people about how advertisements can be misleading. Such as making claims without any reliable basis, using celebrities for brand endorsements doesn't necessarily enhance the product value, etc. Also, ask people to report misleading advertisements and take action against them if people's claim are found to be correct.
