Government should conduct drives to create awareness about how citizens can complain about misleading advertisements, where they can complain and how government offices will support them. Government should also let the complainant know from time to time on what action is taken, which will motivate him to be vigilant. Action should be taken in a time bound period & heavy penalties levied. Government official not acting should be punished. Government should also advertise action taken report.

First Step, to Stop misleading ad on TV channels. like there is thousands TV ad on various TV channels which are misleading. I&B department should stop all these add first. for every ad on TV there should be one department to certified that ad like for films is there.
then for newspaper, the publisher should be make responsible for misleading ad. if there is some misleading ad, the newspaper should be party to fraud. then for local ad, MC should be responsible for same. they have to certif .

Allow citizens to submit the photos, voice recordings of such advertisements to the MyGov or similar portal... and a large crowdsourced way to identify which once are quickly flagged as misleading by citizens. THese are then informed to the state/local gov to take action legally with the photographic/voice proof in place

Mr. Abhinav Bisht's note. You are right. Gov should bring in a legislation. It should ask e-retailers to have a deposit with government to compensate the customer when courts grant a decree against them. Then " cause of action should be deemed to have arisen at the place of residence of consumer in the matter of e-commerce transactions ".

See the misleading advertisement by UIDAI. "Aadhar is your birth right ". THIS IS TOTALLY FALSE. HOW does supplying foreign linked companies with my biometric data become my birthright ? Citizens are fooled by the government. Media is silent because they earn crores of revenue from advertisements and poor citizen is taken for a ride
