Handloom sector is largely dependent on
the organized mill sector for supply of its
principal raw-material, namely Yarn. This
sector uses the bulk of its yarn in the form
of hanks. The Central Government has
been making efforts to ensure regular
supply of yarn to the handloom sector by
enforcing the Order (Hank Yarn Packing
Notification) making it obligatory on the
spinning mills to pack a prescribed
percentage of the yarn produced by them
in hank form.

So as to support weavers the Indian government launched schemes and initiated exhibitions, crafts museum, trade facilitation centre and E-commerce. Market research on the Handlooms identified the need for publicity, availability, Handloom designer dresses and awareness campaigns on a large scale for its sustenance.

Handlooms, a traditional wear in India has lost its significance slowly with the advent of low cost and eye catchy synthetic materials. However, with the notion of 'Make in India' campaign and the planning commission giving it a due place in the economic sector under other priority sectors is regaining its unique identity.

current trends towards sustainability are welcome but inefficient. The shifts … are focused on
incremental, rather than transformative, change. While they may improve sustainability at the
margins, they are rooted in a model of consumption that is itself unsustainable.

Women's are consisting of 48.2% in India'population. But only 27.2% are in labour force. Women are unemployed due to gender stereotypes and social stigma. So in order to achieve USD 5 trillion economy women should employed. And handloom sector has get advantage for them as it's not required to work under sun. They must provided necessary skills and SHG should be organised use financial help from banks. Its not necessary that they should have a traditional background in handloom sector.

Sir,
In our country have not a big platform to develop Khadi. We should increase it on the international markets. And where I m belonging to there is no any plan for khadi, if it recognised and appropriate on the local areas of every village it can be done with great response. Even many citizens will get a lively hood mostly womens. They should train under any particular planning.
