The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP. For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Respected Sir, Salute to you. Reviving ITI's is the best thing to do but need the people who can head ITI's not for giving certificates but real training and skill. In our country people like electricians, welders, plumbers etc. even don't have basic knowledge of their work and tools. So only dedicated people should be included for this great task to mould the youth of the nation, who are totally hopeless and spoilt.

PM Sir. Always it has to be a carrot and stick. Stick is regulation. Skill certification should be mandatory. Carrot is discounted insurance, reimbursement of costs, etc. And always couple it with a skill training centre. The safety rules, gear and tools are not effective till we have punitive rules. Better or additional revenue for skilled performance after certification is the best incentive. Thx.

SKILLED INDIA !!

It is very unfortunate that in our own country in the area of Civil Aviation a present law exists that goes against being an Indian. The law favours Foreign Nationals and puts Indians with the same qualifications and skills at a much lower platform. While a Foreign National who learnt flying from Foreign school A and has say, 1000 hours of flying experience can fly in India after clearing Indian medical and Air Regulation exam while an Indian from the same school and experience is denied this.
