Respected PM - If you really be serious about reducing violence against women you must ensure two additional measures - 1. Ban alcohol 2. Ban all forms of dowry. Any civilian who asks for a dowry should be socially outcaste. There should be a law to do due police & financial checks if there's any transactions between the two parties in cash or material. Only then the marriage should be legally accepted. As for alcohol - it is a statistical fact that most criminals act in a state of intoxication.

Respected PM - Not only should justice be a fundamental right to a citizen but a speedy justice should also be a fundamental right. What's the meaning for a rape victim if the rapist gets punished after 10 years! Do you really consider hanging somebody after 22 years of Mumbai blast is proper justice - I would say we need justice within a span not more than 2-3 years of a crime. Delaying justice is also a grave injustice. Also, the more the delay the less the chance of conviction naturally.

Respected PM - The most urgent need is to reform judiciary and police. For crimes against women - in fact all crimes in general; the biggest problem is it takes inordinate amount of time to arrive at any verdict and then appeals take another long period. Also, the actual conviction rate is very less. So, there's very little real fear amongst the potential criminals of actual punishment. Corruption amongst police, politicians and lawyers also scuttle the process of justice to victims.
