Two ver y important issues: 1. Foreign embassies in India do not treat Indian citizens with repect. They treat them as illiterate and uncivilized people. I consider this an insult of my country. They charge unjustified amounts for visa fee, attestation fees etc. Also fees are in foreign currency so conversion rates are much higher than market price. It seems like a business modal for them. 2. For Indian embassies abroad, they should reflect Indian culture and values(Indian dress, greetings).

When a US born citizen adopts the citizenship of another country, he / she does not lose his / her US citizenship or any part of it. When a India born citizen like NRI is naturalized in USA, he / she looses his / her Indian citizenship. Amend the article 9 of citizenship as shown in part II of Constitution of India 1947 and restore the pride and dignity of India born citizens ( NRI/OCI).

I had to visit Canada from US and went to the border checkpost. It was so friendly and amenable and they wanted us to visit the country, what if only for tourism purposes! The staff was well behaved, courteous and prompt. I hope this kind of behaviour is the least expected from Indian embassy and consulate staff across the world and more so in important countries like US, Western Europe, Japan etc. One of the solutions is to bring some corporate people in this domain who are willing to serve.

All embassies and missions should have website of one type template, hosted on secure NIC server .ERP solution should be developed for ministry (MEA). National Informatics Centre (NIC) may be entrusted with this task. IT security at embassy particularly at small embassy is highly compromised. Local vendors have free access to IT system.Embassy staff is basically IT illiterate people having no basic idea about IT security their computer are full of virus. They use internet without antivirus.

I do not have much experience of Indian embassy working out side, but yes foreign Embassies consider Indian to be foot path people with no place to sit, no shades and standing in line for hours together. We are paying them for the visa fee and they treat us like animals at embassy gates. The Ministry should take note of it and introduce online filing of applications and papers and fix appointments if need be. We should ask our rights and respect.

The clerical staff at the windows are always rude . They lack training in how to manage & assist people . The IFS officers are great but they are not the ones with whom interactions take place. The clerks need to be trained to behave properly .
