I refer to the Indian Embassy in Qatar and have to state that it presents a rather poor picture of the country. Other than it being severely overcrowded at most times, which most Indian citizens are accustomed to anyway, it is the attitude and efficiency in dealing with tourist visa applicants that bothers me.They are given a negative experience of India even before actually setting foot in the country. The embassy's consular services lack the required efficiency.

Embassy's are supposed to promote and protect the culture and values of the country. Do Indian Embassy personnel understand that or is it just a prestige posting for them? Also why do embassys charge such high fees - giving up an Indian passport costs 175 USD! It was only USD 25 before 2010. Why? Such fees are only providing incentive for passport holders to simply "forget" about cancelling old passports.

My non-Indian friends in Britain dread having to apply for Indian visas which leaves then with very negative impression of India in general. So instead of any additional services please retrain your embassy staff to deal with people with courtesy and efficiency. To help them do so review all application processes with a view to reducing harassement and discomfort while keeping the objective in mind. Eg, the photo size for visa application is totally different from that of machines in the UK WHY?

OverSea Ind Emb: should treat all people equally irrespective of via articles under which Indian resided in respective country. 2. Lot of funds are collected for various services offered at overseas Ind Emb. without shouldering any responsibility.3. Overseas Ind Emb earnings & expenses should be made transparent. conted..
