There is no regard for security. We were once allowed to view the book in the Chicago consulate which had records of every visa application including names, passport numbers etc., which should be completely confidential.

Lastly, the San Francisco consulate does not allow us to personally hand over the visa application which should change. Please also enable single day visas for straight-forward cases, where we can drop in a visa application directly in the consulate in the morning and pick it up in the evening (like it used to be many years ago). Lastly, consulate staff (Chicago) are quite rude and do not answer questions politely or take the time.

The OCI processing time is a lot. Secondly, endorsing a PIO card for minors every time they get a new passport (every 5 years) is an unnecessary process. Children should be able to travel without the endorsement if they carry old and new passports. Secondly, getting thumb prints of infants and toddlers is totally silly; the parents should be allowed to sign for them, like other countries allow.

12. Embassy staff should be trained to be polite, efficient and must be multi-lingual to comfortably communicate with different groups of people representing different cultures; 13. Foreign office must be aware of corruption, malpractices and dubious life styles and activities of suspected diplomats and embassy workers and remove poor performing and suspicious staff from time to time with better and efficient one; 14. Embassy staff must not be allowed to marry foreign citizen while in service

1. Provide legal consultancy for Indians in trouble in a foreign country; 2. Provide and facilitate emergency medical help to helpless Indian victims abroad; 3. Provide language assistance for new comers; 4. Further simplification and one window visa policy and timely help; 5. My experience with the Indian embassy in Vancouver has been positive as they communicated well and responded to all necessary queries and provided service in timely fashion; tainted diplomats shouldbe removed from service

The agencies to which the visas were outsourced (such as BLS) are terrible. The phone connection is extremely poor (that is if they answer the phone at all). I have worked with consulates of multiple other countries to get visas and most had an extremely efficient, streamlined process with very clear guidelines and processes. At the minimum, the consulate management should review the websites of other consulates to see how they can make their own website more efficient.

I have had a very frustrating experience every single time I have worked with either the Chicago consulate or the San Francisco consulate. No one EVER answers the phone. There are no reliable records; even in today's time, they maintain records on paper books instead of online. The instructions are very difficult and confusing (and I am a post graduate software engineer). The online status that has been added recently is not accurate (as we experienced the last time we got visas).

9. Foreign should do internal review of performance appraisal of all employees including top diplomats; 10. Many foreign offices are run with colonial outlook and that needs to be changed and they should have the modern managerial aspect of corporate culture introduces for professionalism; 11. The offices should be completely converted to digital and electronic platform to avoid paper-pencil mode and modernized at per first world nations;

6. Tainted diplomats like Ms Devyani Khobragade should be removed or withdrawn form services as it brings shames to Indian diaspora; 7. Diplomats should not be allowed to take maid and servants from India; no civilized first world country provide such facilities to their diplomats and employees and should not be allowed to practice by the Indian foreign office; 8. Diplomats are also govt servants paid by tax payer to serve people not to love aristocratic and lavish life style overseas
