In the name upliftment of SC,ST,OBCs etc. , offering them reservations in schools, colleges etc. is very detrimental . Much more deserving students are often being disadvantaged due to this ! Reservations should, at least, not be mandated in premier institutions !!! You want SCs ans STs to study ? Fine . But a student should actually possess such calibre to crack premier instituions ! Otherwise, well deserving students don't get chance !

The point is that, a kid must pursue what he loves to do and then we can hope for that compassion which brings out a genius in an individual. Making them study, what they can google is of no use.For example, if someone is interested in knowing about their civil rights, which is taught in basic social studies subject. He/she will find it on the govt. website or shall refer to concerned books. But difference would be that, they would be "interested" in knowing, which is the most essential part.

Or does the governments believes that people have such sharp memory. As per my experience, most of the students forget whatever they learnt as soon as they pass.At least the uninteresting subjects. What required here is to design a system, where someone is present to take note of the capabilities a child has and to nourish it. Children today are mature enough to take the career they want to pursue. India needs new job opportunities not job security, if it wants to be a real superpower.

With all due regards to our institutions and system. Kids in India are fed with unnecessary information during their schooling time. No body wants to know, what the kid likes or what he/she is good at. Most of the graduates and post graduates are jack of all trades and master of none( that includes me also). In this age of internet, do you still think that kids would require the whole indian history or sanskrit language. What is the use of it in day to day life for any Indian. None!!

What, I feel is the current education system in India is more inclined towards creating employees rather than employers. But of course the foundations were laid by british. After all they would always want someone to work something which they wont like to do. Just see it with unbiased view, how the education system is designed. Many of the kids coming out of 12th class have no clue, what they are supposed to pursue. On the other hand, children in japan for example are making robots in 4th grade

INDIA WHAT !!! a Diabetes CAPITAL OF WORLD???. Effective excersises coupled with physical defense capability MUST START AT EARLY AGE in schools itself. INDIA'S ETHOS of not to fight is resulting in physically weak body structures and passive generations. CHILDREN love to take part in judo karate etc. Inculcate interest thru similar adapted courses into PT periods thrice a week. This will build habit in child and make him confident of himself to face all future eventualities and avoid diseases.

As far as languages to be taught in schools are concerned, I propose only two languages; viz. Mother Tongue and English. Medium of teaching shall be English. To enable productivity, vocational higher secondary education is to be pursued. All over India only one syllabus to be enforced for all subjects except for mother tongue.

The schools now a days give more and more importance to textbooks and the students just practice memorising the these books instead of understanding them. The new policy should empahsize on improving the thinking ability of the students. Also there should be an extra hour, everyday, for sports/co-curricular activities in all the schools.
