Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions, health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

The last date to submit your comments is 15th October, 2015.

1. Efficient delivery of public utilities such as water, electricity, solid waste, sanitation and sewage. 2. As the Chennai city traffic is already congested, alternate mode of transport like seaway transport can be introduced for congestion free roads. 3. Solar energy can be utilized for alternate power (current) source. 4. Sufficient bio gas can be produced instead of LPG from degradable wastage. 5. Re-usage of sewage water can be used for cultivation, irrigation of park and sanitation.

In some areas like Jalladianpet(Pallikaranai), there is no drainage facility. Hence people let the waste water to streets and it accommodates the empty lands and looking like open drainage. Though there are so many flats and individual houses, it is looking like a slum due to this. Of course the people started suffering from Dengue too and it is spreading rapidly. Please help with drainage facility. Please fulfill the basic requirement of the people first. Of course our city will become smart.

The paper materials that get collected are eventually recycled and subsequently reused. The rest of the waste from institutions follows the usual waste flow into composting plants in the case of biodegradable materials, animal feed processors in the case of food waste, MRFs and recycling plants in the case of dry recyclables and e-waste, and treatment or disposal in the case of hazardous materials.
