central govt should make it compulsory to use led bulb in govt offices specially for poer corporation offices because they have a feeling of free electricity and use 200 watts old yellow bulb and second promotion may be to replace sodium street light which consume 250 watts at a time by led street light.

I HAVE NO INCANDESCENT LAMPS EARLIER I CHANGED MY HOME TO CFL LAMPS I HAVE A COUPLE OF TUBES WHICH I USE RARELY WHEREVER POSSIBLE I HAVE CHANGED TO LED BULBS. THE GOVT TRYING TO INTRODUCE LED LAMPS IS LAUDABLE EARLIER THEY ALL SAID CFL LAMPS R ENERGY EFFICIENT NOW THEY SAY CFL CONTAINS LITTLE AMOUNT OF MERCURY SO REPLACE WITH LED LET GOVT SEEK PEOPLE COOPERATION AND REPLACE LED LIGHTS ONLY IF THEY COLLECT THE EARLIER BULBS AND TRY TO DISPOSE IT OFF PROPERLY. LET LED NOT BE AT THE COST OF HARM

It is a good idea to encourage use of led bulbs so as to increase efficiency , reduce consumption and save light. But consumer should be encouraged to save light by giving him subsidy if he makes effort to reduce his consumption and not by harassing him by putting minimum charges which are at times quite high than the cost of actual consumption as in utter Pradesh. The electricity bill cost is 3to4 times the actual consumption.

We should all change for using LED bulbs. The advange of using leds are more. Its lifetime is 50000hrs or more. It give more power in low voltage. With LED's, you can direct the light where you want, thus no light is wasted. Its reusuable, pollution control, no gas, non breakable, non heatable. It does not produce heat.

LED's are good for the common lighting areas, however, you need to monitor the reduction in consumption by checking if your number of units have reduced in the billing over the one year period. Secondly, for reading it is still not advisable to used LED lights. Experts may please give their views on effect of LED lights on the eyes.

From my experience, I was requesting our society members to replace 500W Halogen with 24W LED available in market but looking at the mentality(everyone is well educated though) it took me almost 6 months to get it replaced. So 1)needs awareness to the benefits through proper advertisement, education in schools. & 2)agreeing to comment below, meter reading person can audit and can give remarks on such cases which are clearly visible. #Its all about saving energy n natural resources!

Here are my views/suggestions for this good proposal: 1. Use LED lights for street lighting. Govt. can install more along the streets which use sodium vapor lamps and incandescent tube lights which consume more power. 2. Installing with mini solar panels for powering them should be made priority, making one time investment like this it is better to include self-sufficiency for their operation. 3. Yes, it is costly but does have more life than other lighting sources.

LED is the most revolutionary technology both from the points of view of reducing carbon emission and decoration on any occasion. This technology is going to stay for decades. We need to make it so cheap that every house can afford it. I have following recommendations - 1. Provide at least one LED bulb to very house for free. 2. Cross subsidise LED tube with the traditional Fluorescent tube. 3. Enable all the entrepreneurs to start producing LED bulbs at low cost.
