Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups and other allied material in Union Territory of Chandigarh. As per NGT directions there is also provision of imposing fine of Rs.5, 000/- "Environmental Compensation" to the erring person/entity per event, along with seizure of such stocks.

With the help of this discussion platform the Administration requests you to 'report the violations' (attach pictures or other details) regarding use of plastic carry bag/plate/cup and allied items on ww.mygov.in. Also, we would like to read your suggestions/ideas as well as practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of plastic (carry bag/cup/plate and allied items) ban in Chandigarh.

Answer is simple when went to vegetables shop malls or any shop we purchase goods for that shopkeeper gives the plastic bags,right that plastic bag can be reuse for carrying goods next time if you people don't throw ortear the plastic bags by mistakely.Next time you went to vegetables carry those bags which you have got when you purchased the vegetables and reuse them now to carry those vegetables.

#1 I hope my opinion will make a little and better difference to Environment. I am favour of bann of plastic cups or glass because this can be substituted by thermacol glass . Bann of PLASTIC BAG is not a solution . So I have a simple solution which  is helpful East to adapt and very eco friendly . The only thing we all have to do (means every person can do) that is REUSE OF PLASTIC BAGS. QUESTION  is how to do it and how every one can do that . SEE NEXT #2

I am in opinion that ban of plastic bags is absolutely right. Since it is not only a threat to our environment but also threat to humankind and other living beings, it should be completely banned in our country. Moreover paper bag should not be used as an alternative of plastic bags as it would enhance the cutting of trees and will prove disastrous to our environment. Instead of paperbag, we can use bags made up of recycled waste and garbage which are also a major problem in our country.

when plastic manufacturing is banned than only use of plastic will be restricted. central and state Government have to join hands against it. There should be advertisement to make people aware about the adverse effect of polly bags. use of alternative should be emphasized e.g eco friendly paper bags , traditional bags .

Ban is no good for manufacturers and recycle workers but for polution control the burning of wood completely banned to save jungle and ban crackers in Dipawali which polute air so much that to inhail air is difficult for like me suffering from asthama .and to get CLEAN INDIA succesful .the mostdirty maker cows and must be removed from roads

In my opinion banning plastic altogether is not viable, we should shift to bioplastic using corn starch here is the recipe: starch + salt + glycerol (3.0 grams (1 tsp) starch, 45 mg salt, 160 ml (2/3 cup) of 1% glycerol solution) we need to shift to this hence we will manage our environmental concerns without any loss of job and livelihood for anyone besides corn starch will give impetus to agriculture and will has negative effect on expenditure used in implementing the ban

I think instead of using plastic bags, thick paper bags should be used as it can be recycled. These paper bags should be provided to all the store keepers at a lower rate as compared to the plastic ones. Production of these paper bags should be encouraged at even household level where housewives can make it easily thereby making money.
