The digital world has become an essential part of our daily lives—whether it’s social media, online shopping, digital banking, or gaming. Along with these opportunities come new risks such as Investment Scam, Instant Loan, Part time job, Trading, Sextortion, Courier Fraud, Digital Arrest, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS).

To build a safer online community, Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in collaboration with MyGov invites citizens to join the Digital Safety Dialogue. This open discussion is a space for sharing personal experiences, safety tips, and community practices that help protect against cyber threats. By learning from each other, we can strengthen digital safety awareness and promote secure online behavior for all.

Your inputs will help create a collective pool of ideas and practices that can be used to spread awareness and guide citizens towards building a Cybercrime-free Digital Bharat.

Best practices for setting a strong password : 1. Use unique, complex, and long passwords: A strong password should be at least 12 characters long and include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using easily guessable information such as your name, birthdate, or common words. 2. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA): Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password. This can be a fingerprint, a security code sent to your phone, or a security key.

Companies should enforce vendor KYC, two-person approvals, and digital authentication of documents to reduce fraud risk. • Report suspected scams immediately to company security teams, local police, and cybercrime cells. • Spread awareness: verify first, never pay upfront, protect your data, and help build a cybercrime-free digital Bharat.

Dummy/fake logistics documents are used to confuse or defraud by falsifying delivery receipts, invoices, permits, or tracking details. Fake job offers often promise unusually high salaries (e.g., doubling pay) to lure victims, requiring upfront payments or personal info. Common red flags: poor document quality, mismatched company details, suspicious email domains, pressure to pay upfront, no formal interview or contract. Verify suspicious documents or offers by contacting companies through official phone numbers and websites—not the contacts provided in suspicious emails. Use official tracking portals to confirm shipment/container details. Refuse to share OTPs, bank details, or Aadhaar info with unknown or unverified parties. Employers will provide formal contracts and interviews before hiring; be wary of immediate job confirmations.
