The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

Project Shiv-Shakti: ₹0 Budget, 100% Self-Sustaining & Waste-Free Digital Mela 1. The 'Trash-for-Transit' VIP Entry (Zero-Cost Green Pass) The Concept: Swap paid VIP passes for eco-responsibility. Instead of charging money for fast-track entry, implement a "Green Pass" system. Any devotee who brings a small box/bag of dry plastic waste (bottles, wrappers) collected from home or the venue premises gets direct, expedited access for darshan. The Impact: Government cleanup cost = ₹0. The crowd itself becomes the cleaning crew, transforming the entire mela ground into a spotless zone within minutes. 2. 'Deity to Dust' Circular Economy (Vedic Paint & Incense) The Concept: Stop outsourcing temple waste management. Partner with KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission) to install a small processing unit funded entirely by KVIC grants. Upcycle tons of offered flowers and cowshed dung into premium "Vedic Natural Paint" and organic incense sticks, branded and sold as "Mahadev Prasad."

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) can introduce a transparent online case-tracking and public grievance portal where citizens can securely submit complaints, track the status of non-confidential cases, and receive timely updates. This would improve transparency, reduce delays, strengthen public trust, and make the enforcement process more citizen-friendly.”

Project Concept This project is based on human psychology and spiritual emotion. Instead of only using rules, machines, or warning boards, the idea is to encourage cleanliness by connecting it with devotion and divine responsibility. People naturally respond more to emotional and spiritual messages, especially during festivals like Shivaratri. This is not to mislead people, but to create a positive mindset that keeping the place clean is also a form of devotion. Visual Awareness Idea For people who cannot read, visual images and digital screens can be used in different places. The visuals will show devotees throwing waste into a dustbin and receiving divine grace or blessings. Short messages will also be written in local languages so everyone can understand easily. This creates an emotional connection and encourages people to keep the surroundings clean naturally.

Introduce a simple web-app/QR system. Visitors who deposit dry waste at designated collection centers scan a QR code to earn "Punya Points," which can be redeemed for discounted prasadam, local handicrafts, or VIP queue access coupons for the darshan. Mandate that all community kitchens (bhandaras) use 100% biodegradable leaf plates (pattals) and clay cups (kulhads). Recruit NCC, NSS, and local youth volunteers to guide pilgrims, manage crowds at waste zones, and perform street plays (Nukkad Nataks) on the theme Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi. Set up temporary operational composting pits near the food zones to convert all collected organic waste and floral offerings into holy manure (Prasad-Khat), which can later be distributed to local farmers in Baghpat. Transform the final 1.5 km into a vibrant, pedestrian-only walking zone lined with green planters, drinking water fountains, and cultural exhibition stalls, making the journey part of the spiritual experience.

Govt may allot places in every muhalla for feeding stray Animals soecially the dogs, according to their foid habits and territory size. This will reduce dog bite cases. There are also a rise in cases of Monkeys coming to cities. More fruit based plants in forests. All airlines should drop the way they drop blue ice, germinared seeds in and around forests after initial monsoon rains.
