MyGov Talk with Hon. Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar on Climate Change

In the run-up to COP (Conference of Parties) 21 scheduled in Paris from 30th November to 11th December 2015, MyGov and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change are pleased to announce a MyGov Talk with the Honourable Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar on the 26th October 2015 at 5.00PM in collaboration with Google India.

With India's Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC), the country is keen to attempt to work towards a low carbon emission pathway, while simultaneously endeavouring to meet all the developmental challenges that the country faces today. The INDC aims at promoting clean energy, especially renewable energy, enhancement of energy efficiency, development of less carbon intensive and resilient urban centres, promotion of waste to wealth, safe, smart and sustainable green transportation network, abatement of pollution and India’s efforts to enhance carbon sink through creation of forest and tree cover.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas, questions and inputs on India's role in COP21 and on the following proposals laid down by INDC:

• Sustainable Lifestyles
• Cleaner Economic Development
• Reduce Emission intensity of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
• Increase the Share of Non Fossil Fuel Based Electricity
• Enhancing Carbon Sink (Forests)
• Adaptation
• Mobilizing Finance
• Technology Transfer and Capacity Building

Selected ideas and names would also be mentioned by the Hon. Minister and other experts during the MyGov Talk.
Contributors from MyGov, Climate Change Experts, senior journalists and social media influencers will join the panel discussion with Shri Prakash Javadekar.

Qatar has converted its deserts into lush green landscapes and oasis by creative use of seawater desalination. We can do it likewise in Gujarat and Rajasthan. We have 7500km long coastline. Besides, it can also be used for mining of rare earths and minerals. Investment of a billion dollars brings net profits 5 times year after year without further investment.

For short term quick results, ban import and manufacture of all Diesel operated passenger vehicles with a seating capacity of less than 20 numbers. For long term, introduce family planning. Free schooling for children/girls for family size less than 4. Purchase of solar PV and windmill systems against tender with import content less than 15%.

CLIMATE JUSTICE - INDC - VI 8.‘National Level Institutions of Excellence’ need to be developed on futuristic lines. As Independent Disciplines / Subjects, Colleges and Universities need to launch / re-launch fresh courses 9.Educating and making aware the Architects / Colleges of Architecture, for adoption of green technologies and eco-friendly, country specific designs and layouts, will yield good results at the ground level. Issue2: Wastage of food in the country (which ultimately becomes garbage). Solution: Regulations for the preparation(size and weight) of the dishes at the restaurant. for example one should not be served 1 full dish at a time,even if (s)he is a billionaire. because food is the resource of county not of individuals, spread proper awareness not scarcity of good food to the citizens. Develop a well planned policy by observing the food preparation,serving techniques and offers

Sir, Here I want to escalate 2 basic issue that can be resolved immediately without any financial burden on government. Issue 1: The increase of number of personal 4 Wheeler in the country and consumption of fuel. Solution: Any one who own/purchase a car must 5 grow registered plats(trees) atleast to 10ft height at their places government allowed places.Forest department must have issue registration number to the all trees(which they are already doing currently).

CLIMATE JUSTICE - INDC - V 7.Exposing our young citizens to these socio-environment concepts through school curriculum and their visible applications. Web portals and online quiz competitions, with daily attractive prizes may be developed. Entertainment/ kids channels may be encouraged to promote related content. CLIMATE JUSTICE - INDC - IV 6.‘Waste 2 Wealth (W2W)’ campaign may be initiated to promote investments in ‘Waste Management’ sector. Soft loans,other special benefits be integrated to set up waste management plants (including e-waste), manufacture power, eco-friendly bricks, construction material etc. from waste.
