To government, I think, constructing a Toilet facility is not a big task. But maintaining that is a challenge. One of good idea that I saw in discussion is to handover a village to a corporate company to maintain it. At same time, we also need to identify a right and honest working labor. From my perspective, when Government is providing pension to poor, let them (Government can decide on age limit for this work) also work in a day to make these toilets clean. Also let them take turns for month or three, as I had seen people working at these toilets show authority to public (not everyone though). Also recruiting an employee (or multiple depending on population) to supervise and control these activities in every village/town. Collect feedback through IVR call and set limit on budget for daily needs of cleaning (to avoid corruption).

I have been travelling within and outside India. One of the main differences I see is the availability of clean toilets. clean toilets should be made available at certain key points like bus stations, metro stations, tourist places, most visited places etc. Contracts can be awarded to private players for maintenance of these toilets for which a nominal fee can be charged. Regular cleanliness checks will ensure that these toilets are properly maintained. To save costs, they can be solar powered.

1. Upgrade existing toilets 2. Upkeep & maintenance of toilet needs elaborate treatment, it may be site specific. 3. Toilet habits are to be introduced in phase manner. 4. Ladies toilets are in shamble. 5. Toilet in trains and schools are also in bad shape. 6. Mere outsourcing is not enough. People participation is essential. 7. Whenever user comes out, attendant shall take back him to toilet and explain him the toilet habits.

If we have a look at the current position of Toilets, we observe two important problems 1) No. of toilets for ladies are few 2) Toilets available for gents are not clean For Building toilets for ladies and for the automated sensor based cleaning systems for Gents toilets we need money, either use local body taxes or give Income tax exemption schemes for those donating money for building toilets and providing facilities to people.

Its not at all complicated. Make it mandatory for corporates beyond a particular turnover to adopt a village and give them some waivers on tax. It shud be in their respective locations and shud be certified by local DMs. The expenses can be deducted from the taxable profits of the corporate. If all the big corporates beyond a particular turnover r drawn into this objective, within a year we would c a different india. If any corporate doesnt complete it , there can be a higjer tax for them.

A project similar to this has been successfully implemented in my city calicut in the state of kerala.Public e-toilets has been constructed across the city near busy bus stop's and railyway stations.An one rupee coin will do all the work..

1. Education is key. 2. Rural areas need infrastructure, but also has to make sure those infrastructure can will be used by people and its should be low maintenance. 3. In cities, all commercial buildings regardless of whether its big or small should have toilets for both males and females. All building commercial building plans should be reviewed and made sure there are enough facilities. 4. Citizens should be able to easily complain about lack of facilities in buildings, towns and rural areas.

For Swachh Bharat, we should have proper sanitation system in urban and rural area. We can link MNRGA scheme to sanitation in rural areas. MNRGA scheme run in each village and there is no SAUCHALAYA. If any one want to make SAUCHALAYA, GOVT can help them by giving labour by MNRGA. So labor cost should be taken care by GOVT through MNRGA labor people. So on same village people get job and SAUCHALAYA. Same way we should have proper sanitation in Urban area.

In my view first we have to bring the awareness among the people about the toilet and it's hygienic use.I have seen govt under Anamoy Scheme provide free toilet to villegers.After construction they simple either not in use or sale the pipe and etc.For money CSR for the company is a good source.but to maintain it we have to depend upon local people.In village area it should Hanover to local panchayat.but in urban area it must handover to NGO.Where it will be use as a pay toilet.NGO will benoprole

MAKE TOILET MAKING A LUCRATIVE BUSINESS. Support people interested in making and running toilets in cities and villages alike. Give them income tax and other tax rebate. Provide them know-how on making toilet and maintainance. Give easy loans. Give them freedom to use the toilet premise to use as a sale counter to sell some items - Condoms can be sold here. This will help triple purpose - 1) toilet 2) safe sex practices 3) family planning
