Broad Approach (Attached doc for details) 1. Pick a holiday route in every State: for a typical 1/2 week holiday 2. Focus on ensuring the whole experience : travel, stay, actual destination and entertainment, adventure facilities. 3. Create a cross-functional team : town planners, conservationists, tourism operators, road/rail authorities, municipal bodies etc headed by empowered tourism minister. 4. Fix budget, time for planning and execution. 5. Go ahead on Mission mode. Repeat.

i have traveled many countries abroad and on casual chats with the local people there were a few points 1) most feel India is a dirty place 2) we Indians stare at them 3) dirty toilets 4) rude taxi drivers. most loved Indian "people". Thailand economy thrives on tourism . we should learn and study there policies and implement them in India. i read that Thailand and also china hold classes for taxi drivers on how to behave with tourists.

Forest cover is reducing despite huge expenditure wild animals are reducing ,but IFS officers ,subordinates get timely promotions despite reduction in forest cover .If there is reduction despite huge investment ,officers and subordinates should be made accountable.promotion not be automatic but linked to ground results ,forest cover can be measured through satellites .every indian to plant and nurture one tree .it is high time we have to control population to reduce pressure on resources
